concrete shed base drying time
We have people framing on foundations in a day or two, also. the longer the better, of course. the standard for cured concrete is 28 days (to 3000 psi) but you have a lot of strength in just a few days.. Concrete base for shed 11th apr 07 at 9:14 am what i don't understand is, there seems to be two options for a shed base, paving slabs set on a sand and dry cement mix, or a concrete base. if you are laying a concrete base you might be wasting your time if you don’t do it properly. without a properly prepared base with compacted ground. The main reason for using a damp-proof membrane prevents the newly poured concrete from drying out too quickly (de-watering) because of water absorption by the sub-base or sub-grade, which will adversely affect finished strength and can cause hundreds of tiny surface cracks.. On average, it takes 24-48 hours (depending on weather and how "liquid" the concrete was when poured) for the concrete to set so you can walk on it or place your shed. it does, however, take concrete up to 5 years to fully cure (completly dry).. The simplest way to prevent the concrete drying out too quickly is to keep it damp. this can be achieved in various ways, but the most commonly used are:- 100mm concrete slab - suitable for shed bases, driveways, paths, patios 150-200mm concrete slab - for drives, garage floors, commercial yards etc. 150mm keeled garage base slab.

Different types and thicknesses of screed will take different lengths of time to dry or cure. it should be left at least 24 to 48 hours before it is walked on, although with certain additives this time could be reduced to 12 hours..
